MSI has released full specs for the new Wind U160. In the press release they confirmed that the Wind U160 which has already been awarded the iF Product Design Award 2010, will be available in a choice of Jet Black or Fancy Gold.

With its incredibly stunning looks, the U160 is extremely slimline at less than 1-inch (2.5 cm) thick and weighs in at only 1 Kg (2.2 lb). The case is coated with Colour Film Print Technology scratch resistant enamel which not only protects the netbook, but makes it sparkle in the lights.

When the lid is opened, a super quiet and super comfortable ‘chiclet’ style keyboard awaits, as well a seamlessly integrated touchpad (consisting of a grid of raised dots) built into the case itself.

Battery life is claimed to be up to 15 hours, but in normal use (with the wifi on for example) don’t expect to get all of them. None the less, with it’s power saving LED backlit screen it certainly should last the best part of that.

The full specification of the MSI Wind U160 is as follows:

The U115, which will be available for delivery in the UK from May is somewhat unique, as it will have both a hard-drive and a solid state disk built in.

The operating system will be installed on the 8GB SSD (so it will start-up fast), and the 160GB HDD will be there for data and programs. The hard-drive will run only on demand, saving power and extending battery life when it is not.

The Wind U115 is will come with 1GB of DDR2 memory and is built on the Intel Atom Z530 processor and a US15W chipset. The 10-inch screen resolution is 1024×600. Also included are 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.0, a card reader and three USB ports.

MSI claim that with the SSD turned on and the HDD turned off that the battery will last more than 12 hours. Yes, you read that right. Twelve hours.

The cost will be £499, so it will certainly have to be worth it!

The Wind U123 is based on the Intel N280 1.66 Ghz processor and comes complete with 1GB of DDR2 memory.

The 10-inch widescreen display has a resolution of 1024×600, which being better than some will be a benefit in displaying more websites correctly, without scrolling.

Several hard drive options will be available, starting and 80GB and extending up to 160GB, by way of a 120GB mid-range choice. Other optional extras are an upgraded 2 Megapixel webcam, rather than the standard 1.3 Megapixel, a 3- or 6-cell battery and models equipped with either a built-in TV-Tuner or 3G (HDSPA) card.
