Netbook OS X Mac Clone?

While many people may already have installed OS X on their netbook via the Hackintosh method, up to now it has not been possible to buy an OS X netbook.

If the most recent rumours are right, Apple are readying a netbook. It seems more likely however that such an entry into the netbook marketplace would consist of a larger version of the iPhone, rather than a smaller version of the MacBook.

Up to now it is not possible for other manufacturers to ship their own hardware with OS X. Except Psystar have been doing it for around a year now. Is this allowed? Well this is not clear.

According to Apple, no – most certainly not since the licence agreement states that OS X may only be installed on hardware with an Apple badge on it. They are taking legal action against Psystar for doing so.

According to Psystar, they are doing  no wrong and are counter-sueing Apple.

If by some chance Psystar were to win this, it could certainly pave the way for netbook vendors to launch OS X models alongside their Windows and Linux offerings.
