Novell Wants a Bigger Piece of Netbook Action

novell_suse_linux_netbook_os1Novell has asserted its willingness to have bigger piece of the netbook action by announcing that is has set up a dedicated specialist team of engineers to work on a netbook friendly version of it’s SUSE Linux Operating system.

Novell Taiwan will be working with Asus, Acer and MSI as well as other Taiwanese netbook makers to ready an optimised and small screen, low power variant of their OS, which is already supplied by a number of vendors. The company said,

The R&D team will cooperate with Taiwan-based vendors of netbook PCs to develop driver programs and design human-machine interface to support the latter’s hardware

It is expected by industry sources that several vendors will show off SUSE Linux based netbooks at Computex in Taipei, which takes place in June.
